AMA continues the Media Education campaign/ Krasniqi at the Durrës high school: Beware of the dangers of the virtual world!
The last day of school for Durrës high schools has ended with a Media Education lesson. The campaign launched long ago by the Audiovisual Media Authority, yesterday stopped in the coastal city of Durrës, where more than 200 students from the “Gjergj Kastrioti”, “Naim Frashëri” and “Leonik Tomeo” high schools, watched a series of videos prepared by AMA, on various negative phenomena and dangers that the virtual world hides, and discussed ways to protect against these dangers.
In the activity held at the Children's Cultural Center in Durrës, conceived as a conversation with young people, special attention was paid to the risks that come from excessive exposure to the internet, hate speech and the consequences that come from it, the importance of protecting personal data, etc., as well as the solutions and advice that experts provide for them.
In this next session on Media Education, the president of AMA, Armela Krasniqi, was also present, who took part and led this conversation with the young people of Durrës high schools.
"Remember, the first act, that of critical thinking, is essential to being safe in the virtual world," Krasniqi said. "This media education that we insist on is much more than a protective fence between you and the dangers of the virtual world. These are more than just a set of rules that must be followed strictly. This is a dynamic and practical discipline, just like the subjects you study in school."
In the videos shown, produced by the Audiovisual Media Authority in cooperation with the Turkish regulator, RTUK, students specifically followed information on the known risks of cyber environments and measures to ensure online security; social media; online advertising; sharing personal information about oneself and family; risks from viruses and information theft, etc. The importance of protecting personal data, protective precautions or even types of personal data that should not be shared with others was discussed. A special and important topic was online hate speech in all its forms.
"Denounce hate speech at any time," Krasniqi called on young people. "Denounce every case of bullying, every sexist attack and other phenomena that hate speech contains."
This activity was carried out in collaboration with the Durrës Local Education Office and the Children's Cultural Center of this city.
