Albania leads Europe in flight growth/ Increased by 119.7% compared to the pre-pandemic period

Commercial flights are marking a new and dynamic development in the country, reflecting changes in the air travel market and the ever-growing needs of passengers. From the addition of new routes and destinations, to increasing flight frequencies and improving services, this sector is playing a key role in connecting countries, boosting tourism and strengthening the economy.
The European Statistical Agency has highlighted these statistical data, showing how much the number of flights has changed since November before the pandemic until now. According to it, it turns out that the number of commercial flights in the country has increased by 119.7%, thus marking the largest increase in Europe and the region. Also, many new routes have entered our country, the latest of which is Tirana-Toronto, where the first flight from Toronto is scheduled for June 18, 2026, while from Tirana it will be carried out on June 19.
The growth for this month has marked a slowdown after October, which peaked. But how do other countries in the region fare? As for these countries, it turns out that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia lead after Albania, marking an increase of 47% and 40% respectively.
On the other hand, North Macedonia has also experienced an increase of 36.9%, while Montenegro is the country that has shown a 3% decrease in the number of flights, having a negative result.
A good situation is also presented for other countries, such as Iceland, which ranks second in Europe with an increase of 79.8%. Greece and Malta also show an increase in the number of commercial flights by 37.3% and 36.9%.
Meanwhile, commercial flights have seen a decline in several countries, mainly the Nordic countries. Germany has seen a decline of 14.4%, followed by Finland with 16.4%. Latvia and Sweden have seen the biggest declines, with 24.8% and 28.5% respectively.
