Albania, the third investor in Kosovo/ Capital from our country increases its presence, investments exceed 100 million euros in 2025

Foreign direct investment in Kosovo reached a record high in 2025, reaching 1.03 billion euros. Within this total capital flow, Albania ranks among the most important investors.
In the ranking of countries by investment value during 2025, Germany holds the first place with 268.7 million euros of investments in Kosovo. Switzerland ranks next with 223.9 million euros, while Albania ranks third with 103.6 million euros of investments. This positions Albania ahead of several large economies that have traditionally been important investors in Kosovo.
In relation to the total foreign direct investment in Kosovo during 2025, investments from Albania constitute about 10% of the total, a significantly higher share compared to previous years. This indicates an increase in the role of Albanian capital in the Kosovo economy and an intensification of economic ties between the two countries.
If compared to earlier periods, the increase is even more noticeable. In 2007, Albanian investments in Kosovo were only 3.4 million euros, while in 2008 they increased to 21.9 million euros and in 2009 to 23.3 million euros. In the following years, investments fluctuated mainly between 10 and 20 million euros, such as in 2010 with 20.3 million euros and in 2011 with 11.2 million euros.
A more significant increase began to appear in the middle of the last decade. In 2015, Albanian investments reached 40.1 million euros, while in 2016 they were 28.6 million euros. However, in 2017 there was a significant decrease to 2.4 million euros, being one of the lowest levels of Albanian investments in Kosovo during the analyzed period.
After 2020, the Albanian investment trend changes significantly in the upward direction. In 2020, investments reached 39.8 million euros, while in 2021 they increased to 50.4 million euros. The growth continued in the following years, with 47.3 million euros in 2022, 64.5 million euros in 2023 and 89 million euros in 2024.
The peak of this trend is reached in 2025, when Albania's investments in Kosovo reach 103.6 million euros, the highest level ever recorded.
