In recent years, Albania has made significant progress in the field of electronic government. According to the data, over 1,000 online services are available for citizens through the e-Albania platform, which represents more than 90% of all public services in Albania.
Investments and improvements show a strong commitment of the Albanian government to modernize public services and to facilitate the access of citizens and businesses to them through technology. It should be taken into consideration here that according to Eurostat data, about 3 out of 4 people in our country have used one of the e-government activities in 2023. Meanwhile, it turns out that this rate in the European Union is 69%, or 2 points higher. lower than in our country.
But how much will the budget for 2025 be for e-government?
Referring to the data from the draft budget report for the next year, about 12.5 billion lek or 125 million euros will be allocated for electronic governance.
Compared to last year, the budget for the modernization and improvement of online governance has had a significant increase of about 36%. From ALL 9.2 billion in 2024, the increase this year is estimated at ALL 3.3 billion.
We emphasize that e-government includes activities such as interacting with public authorities, obtaining information from authority sites, downloading official forms, accessing data or registers, accessing personal information, scheduling an appointment or booking, submitting tax returns , claims or complaints or even social security benefits.
