Nordics chose Albania in March/ War gives the first signals. Denmark marks the

Foreign nationals entering Albania returned to strong growth in March, after a weak start to the year. According to INSTAT, 609,363 foreign nationals entered in March, an increase of 10.8% compared to March 2025.

The largest contribution to the increase in inflows was again made by Kosovo, which added around 31 thousand entries more than a year ago, remaining the dominant factor in the expansion of total inflows. Strong increases were also recorded by major Western markets, with Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States recording significant inflow expansions, while Canada grew at even faster rates.

One of the elements expected to affect tourism performance this year is also related to geopolitical developments in the Middle East. The increase in insecurity in conflict zones has prompted some visitors, especially Europeans, to review their travel plans and seek new alternatives in the region.

In March figures, the impact of this development appears mixed. On the one hand, some markets directly linked to the conflict region recorded declines. Israel fell by around 13%, while Saudi Arabia by over 30%, reflecting a weakening of demand from these countries.

On the other hand, among the most unusual developments is the very strong growth from several Nordic countries. Denmark recorded an extraordinary growth, over eight times more than a year earlier, while strong increases were also recorded from Norway, Sweden and several other Northern European countries. This development suggests an expansion of demand from markets that have not traditionally been among the main sources of visitors.

Flows also increased significantly from Spain, Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina, while rapid expansion rates were also recorded from smaller countries such as Luxembourg, Lithuania, Latvia and Ireland. Outside Europe, strong increases were also recorded from Australia, Brazil, India and Egypt, indicating that in addition to traditional markets, there are signs of gradually expanding interest from more distant destinations.
