"Made in Albania" "conquer" the Kosovo market/ The economic

Trade between Albania and Kosovo has experienced significant expansion during 2025, recording increasing figures in the January-May period. In the first five months of this year alone, the total volume of trade exchanges reached the value of around 33 billion lek, a clear indicator of the growth of economic ties between the two countries.

What is most striking is the pace of growth in Albanian exports to Kosovo. From 16.5 billion lek in the first five months of last year, exports have risen to 28.7 billion lek, which translates into an impressive increase of 74.1%. From domestic production to logistics, Albania seems to be making better use of the Kosovo market.

The most exported products to Kosovo are without a doubt fuels and construction materials. Specifically, fuels rank first with 18.9 billion lek, followed by salts, oxides, lime and cement, which account for over 2.4 billion lek of the total. After them come food products such as vegetables and edible roots.

On the other hand, Albanian imports from Kosovo have suffered a slight decline, falling from 4.83 billion lek in the first 5 months of 2024 to 4.71 billion lek this year, which represents a contraction of about 2.3%. However, the products that Albania purchases from Kosovo remain important and with added value.

At the top of the list of imports are beverages and alcohol, which bring in over 885 million lekë to Albania. Following them are fuels and mineral oils, metal products such as steel and aluminum, as well as furniture and lighting, proving that Kosovo is developing a domestic industry that also exports processed products.

Against this backdrop, it is clear that the growth of Albanian exports has been the dominant factor in the overall growth of trade exchanges. Albania has significantly increased not only the quantity, but also the diversity of products it sells.

At a time when there is talk of an Albanian common market, the 2025 figures are no longer simply a political vision, but an economic reality.
