Businesses in the free energy market - Price offers, only 6 suppliers have

All electricity suppliers are obliged to publish their offers on the Price Comparison Platform, set up by the Energy Regulatory Authority. However, despite this, currently only 6 of them have become part of the platform, although in total the ERE has licensed 38 companies for this service. In total, there are 15 published offers, as the companies have divided them according to the voltage level to which the businesses that can contract suppliers are connected.

The ERE platform was established in the framework of the liberalization of the electricity market, to enable customers to obtain information regarding the prices of electricity offered by different suppliers. Its main purpose is precisely to help customers choose their electricity supplier in a transparent manner, enabling them to compare possible offers from retail electricity suppliers.

The Energy Regulatory Authority's obligation to suppliers came after the expansion of the liberalized energy market with about 2,600 businesses connected to the 10 kV voltage, which from January 1 of this year entered the free energy market, having the obligation to choose their own supplier. This expansion followed last year's liberalization of about 2,100 businesses connected to the 20 kV voltage, while businesses connected to the 35 kV voltage were also disconnected earlier. Meanwhile, next year, customers connected to the 6 kV voltage will also enter the free market.

The entry of businesses into the free energy market also brings a reduction in the amount of energy supplied by the FSHU, under the role of Supplier of Last Resort. According to official data, during 2024 the amount supplied fell by 45%, while the invoiced value by 47%, reflecting the finding of private suppliers by businesses, according to the requirements of the legislation in force.
