Support for small and medium-sized businesses - 4 million lek for young entrepreneurs in Durrës
The State Aid Commission has authorized state aid "grants for young people in support of the development of local economic initiatives", based on grant support from the budget of the Municipality of Durrës.
The state aid scheme "Grants for young people in support of the development of local economic incentives" aims to support sustainable business plans created by young people aged 18-30 from the city of Durrës, who have business ideas or who are looking to expand the activities of existing businesses.
The aid scheme will be implemented in the period 2025–2027, while the aid provider and the authority responsible for implementing the measure is the Municipality of Durrës. The budget of the scheme in the form of a grant is 4 million lek. Up to 10 young entrepreneurs will be beneficiaries of the scheme. Meanwhile, small and medium-sized enterprises will undergo a process that is expected to be divided into three phases.
Likewise, all young people who are winners after the application process will be beneficiaries, where they will be supported based on the best, innovative, profitable ideas that guarantee sustainable results. Meanwhile, the project will be implemented in the territory of the Municipality of Durrës.
In order to guarantee transparency and fair competition, any aid granted from state sources that distorts competition by giving an advantage to one or more certain undertakings or to the production of certain products is prohibited. Each beneficiary of the aid must sign the “De minimis” aid declaration and submit a copy of the declaration to the Municipality of Durrës. The total value of the aid granted to an undertaking must not exceed 14 million lekë, for a financial period of three years. This condition is met, given that the annual budget of the scheme is 4 million lekë.
Through the transfer of state resources in the form of a direct grant, the Municipality of Durrës offers young entrepreneurs/beneficiaries an advantage, facilitating them to cover the expenses that they would normally have to cover with their own funds during their economic activity. The assistance is provided only to young people who will be winners from the selection process of applicants with the best ideas. The scheme has the potential to cover almost all sectors of the economy in the territory of the Municipality of Durrës, including enterprises that are active in regional/international trade.
