Balluku at the Athens summit: Bilateral meetings to strengthen regional energy

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, participated in the Energy Transition Summit, held in Athens earlier this week, where she held a series of bilateral meetings with important representatives of the regional and international energy sector.

During the summit, Balluku met with the General Director of the Greek Transmission Operator (IPTO), Manos Manousakis, with whom he discussed the continuation and intensification of joint energy projects between the two countries. The focus of the meeting was on cooperation in transmission networks and the sustainability of the energy system in the region.

Another important meeting took place with the regional director of the Azerbaijani state-owned company SOCAR for the Balkans, Murad Haydarov, where joint engagement in projects related to energy security and diversification of supply sources in the region was discussed.

Deputy Prime Minister Balluku also held a meeting with the United Kingdom's Climate Minister, Kerry McCarthy, in the context of preparations for the Berlin Process, which will be organized in London this year.

The Energy Transition Summit, covering the region of Southeastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean, addressed recent geopolitical developments and their impact on the energy sector. The discussions focused on energy security, the transition to renewable energy sources, and cross-border cooperation in energy infrastructure.
