July inflation reached 2.5%/ Increased tourist demand mainly affected food, rent

The Consumer Price Index for July 2025 reached 119.1, compared to December 2020. The annual change in the consumer price index in July 2025 is 2.5%, while a year ago this change was 2.1%. The monthly change in the consumer price index in July 2025, compared to June 2025 is -0.1%. This rate turns out to be the highest since February of last year.

On the other hand, this situation is directly related to tourism, especially in the summer period when the demand for tourist services, hotels, cafes and restaurants increases significantly.

The annual price increase in July was mainly influenced by the group “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” with 1.08 percentage points, followed by the group “Rent, water, fuel and energy” with 0.61 percentage points. Also, the prices of the group “Furniture, household equipment and home maintenance” with 0.20 percentage points, the prices of the groups “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” and “Entertainment and culture” affected with 0.17 percentage points each, the prices of the group “Hotels, cafes and restaurants” with 0.11 percentage points.

Compared to the same month last year, the largest annual price changes were recorded in the group “Entertainment and culture” with 7.7%, followed by the groups “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” with 3.4%, “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” with 3.2%, “Rent, water, fuel and energy” with 3.0%, “Furniture, household equipment and home maintenance” with 2.7%, “Hotels, cafes and restaurants” with 2.0%, “Communication” with 1.5%, “Miscellaneous goods and services” with 1.2%, “Clothing and footwear” with 0.9%, “Educational services” with 0.8% and “Health” with 0.4%. On the other hand, the prices of the group “Transport” decreased by 0.4%.

Within the food group, prices of the subgroup "oils and fats" increased by 6.7%, followed by the subgroups "vegetables including potatoes" by 5.4%, "milk, cheese and eggs" by 3.8%, "meat" by 3.5%, "fruit" by 1.8%, "fish" by 1.4%.
