Fires, 3 hotspots still active - Including Finiqi and Mallakastra

Albania continues to face severe fire situations in several areas of the country. In the last few hours, 19 active fires have been identified, of which 3 are still active, engaging hundreds of forces on the ground and air support.

On the mountain above the village of Dhivër, Finiq municipality, a fire has engulfed a large area of high-altitude forest. 10 firefighting vehicles from surrounding municipalities and around 120 operational forces are operating on the ground, supported by Armed Forces personnel and air support.

Another serious outbreak is in the village of Lofkënd, Mallakastër municipality, where the fire has engulfed an area of pine trees. 11 firefighting vehicles, including army vehicles, and 130 forces from all operational structures are engaged in this operation. Here too, air support is active.

Meanwhile, in the village of Vjollcë, Mirditë municipality, a fire has engulfed an area of pine forest and shrubs. Despite intensive efforts by the fire service, the forestry service and volunteers in the area, the fire has not been completely contained. Fortunately, there is no danger to homes in the area.

Throughout the territory, 48 firefighting vehicles, 445 operational forces, 9 heavy vehicles, 73 Armed Forces personnel, 8 crewed firefighting vehicles, as well as 2 Swedish aircraft activated through the European Civil Protection Mechanism have been deployed.

The National Civil Protection Agency has called for increased caution from residents and the reporting of any suspicious fires, while remaining fully prepared to coordinate actions on the ground and protect the lives of citizens and public property.
