Rent bills, a burden for consumers/ Lead the price increase in October.

In October 2025, the Consumer Price Index reached 120.3, compared to the December 2020 base. According to official data, annual inflation was recorded at 2.3%, up from 1.9% in the same month a year earlier. Meanwhile, the monthly change in the index, compared to September 2025, was 0.1%.

The annual price increase in October was mainly driven by the group "Rent, water, fuel and energy", which contributed +0.87 percentage points to total inflation. It was followed by the groups "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" with +0.55 percentage points, and "Furniture, household appliances and home maintenance" with +0.21 percentage points.

Also, a positive contribution to the annual inflation increase was made by the prices of the group "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (+0.15 percentage points), "Hotels, cafes and restaurants" (+0.13 percentage points), and "Miscellaneous goods and services" (+0.10 percentage points).

Compared to October 2024, the largest price increase was recorded in the group "Rent, water, fuel and energy" with 4.3%, followed by "Entertainment and culture" (+3.2%), "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (+3.1%) and "Furniture and household appliances" (+2.9%).

Within the food group, the highest prices were observed in the subgroup "Oils and fats" (+4.9%), followed by "Milk, cheese and eggs" (+4.2%), "Meat" (+2.9%), "Fish" (+2.5%) and "Bread and cereals" (+0.3%).

Overall, the data show a moderate increase in inflation during October, mainly influenced by the increase in the cost of rents, energy and basic food products.
