Economy picks up pace, 4.09% in third quarter/ Trade, transport and accommodation had the biggest impact on growth
The Gross Domestic Product is estimated to increase during the third quarter of the year, according to data from the Institute of Statistics. This increase is fixed at 4.09%, compared to the same quarter last year, while, on the other hand, the final consumption of the population has increased by 0.83%. The figures show that during the third quarter the item that gave the highest contribution to the growth of the Gross Domestic Product, with 1.30 points, is trade, transport and accommodation, followed by labor administration with 0.91 points, professional activities with 0.81 points and construction with 0.58 points. percentage. The good performance of tourism is also reflected in the GDP indicators. The branch which gave the smallest contribution to the overall increase in production is the group "Arts, entertainment and leisure" with 0.07 points. The groups "Industry, Energy and Water" contributed negatively with 0.43 percentage points, "Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries" with 0.41 percentage points and "Information and Communication" with 0.12 percentage points.
If we analyze the change of the main branches, we see that for this quarter the group "Professional activities and administrative services" recorded an increase of 11.64%, followed by the group of activities of "Public Administration, Education and Health" which recorded an increase of 8.36%. The group "Financial and Insurance Activities" recorded an increase of 6.27%, the group of activities "Trade, Transport, Accommodation and Food Service" recorded an increase of 6.19%, the activity of "Construction" recorded an increase of 5.30%, the activity of "Property of Real estate" marked an increase of 4.33% and the group of activities "Arts, entertainment and recreation, other service activities" had an increase of 3.88%. On the other hand, the group of activities "Information and Communication" recorded a decrease of 5.25%, the activities of "Industry, Energy and Water" recorded a decrease of 4.04% and the activity of "Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing" recorded a decrease of 2.54%.
Meanwhile, compared to the previous quarter, i.e. the second quarter of 2024, the indicator of the Gross Domestic Product has increased by 2.76%, while the changes of some components are presented with a decrease. Thus, the highest decline is registered by construction with 8.27%, followed by the "Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing" group, which recorded a decrease of 0.85%.
