Fire in Kruja/Rama: It ended with only one warehouse burned down and no residents injured
Prime Minister Edi Rama informed today that "an extraordinary battle with the fire on Kruja Mountain has ended with only one warehouse burned down and no residents injured."
In a post on social media, Rama said that "in the presence of wind and the inability at night to use firefighting equipment from the air, our firefighting, military and police forces faced it with heroism and outstanding professional skills, avoiding a balance that could have been tragic as is unfortunately happening in other European countries in this scorching summer."
The head of government expressed gratitude to the firefighters, while also sharing a message from a resident of Kruja.
"Respect and gratitude to our heroes on the front lines of this challenging August, where last night the residents of Kruja saw that they were not alone in their extremely difficult hours, as evidenced by this message among several that they sent me last night at night: "Mr. Prime Minister! Please, the fire is taking on huge proportions in Kruja! They are working like heroes. May God reward them... but the wind is spreading it very quickly. If it is possible for other reinforcements... the state is standing firm"," said Rama.
Operations to isolate and control the fire on Kruja Mountain have continued with intensity, with continuous engagement throughout the night of civil emergency structures and the Armed Forces. Over 200 personnel from civil emergency structures and the Armed Forces, as well as 80 Fire Protection and Rescue personnel, participated in the operation.
21 firefighting vehicles, 3 helicopters, the Bayraktar TB2 drone, 2 AKMC thermal camera drones, and ambulances have been deployed on the ground and from the air.
