2100 former soldiers or civilians will have the opportunity to become part of the reservists of the Albanian army. The draft law approved by the Council of Ministers is already in the Assembly and foresees that the initial cost of activating the reservists will be 1.5 billion ALL, while the average cost of mobilization for a 40-day mobilization period per year will be 826 million ALL.
But what should be the conditions that someone must fulfill to be part of the reserve forces of the Albanian army?
Referring to the draft law, the criteria are to be an Albanian citizen, not to have been sentenced to imprisonment by a final court decision for committing a crime, and to be up to 50 years old for a soldier, up to 55 years old for a non-commissioned officer and up to 60 years old for officer.
Ex-servicemen who were previously part of the armed forces, who become part of the reserve force, will receive the rank they had previously. Meanwhile, those who have not previously served in the army will receive the first military rank.
Soldiers, who at the time of entry into force of this law, have entered the reserve according to the criteria defined in the law on military career in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, as well as civilians, who meet the criteria for accepting military service in the reserve, are accepted through the recruitment procedure and sign the corresponding contract for military service in the reserve, with a duration of not less than 2 years, with the right of renewal, but without passing the criteria of staying in the military service in the reserve.
In total, Albania has 8,500 active forces.
