Observation, oil at the limit of 200 lek per liter - The capital's market

The price of hydrocarbons has increased again. This Wednesday, a liter of diesel has been tightened in price from 199 lek to 202 lek. Authorities have set up a special task force to monitor the market, while gas stations immediately reflect changes in global markets.

The price of oil began to rise immediately after Iran decided to close the Strait of Hormuz, which is a key trading point. On March 10, oil reached a price of 198 lek/liter and a few days later it decreased to 193 lek/liter, as a result of the decrease in the price on international markets. However, recently it has again experienced a significant increase, trading at an average of 199 lek/liter.

However, in global markets, prices have marked a slight decline this Wednesday, although they remain above the threshold of $100 per barrel, in a market tense by geopolitical developments.

The decline comes after Iraq resumed oil exports through a pipeline to the Turkish port of Ceyhan, bringing limited relief to supplies.

The Task Force focuses on increasing tax and customs control and efficiency in the hydrocarbon sector, both in wholesale and retail, in order to avoid abusive increases in fuel trading prices and thus protect Albanian citizens. The profit margins of companies will also be monitored to ensure that prices are not abused.
