US Executive Order/ What Happens to Funds for Albania? - Medicines and Medical Services Will Continue to Be Supported
Through a notice sent by the U.S. Embassy to the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, it is announced that, in connection with the executive order of the United States of America, the distribution of funds for foreign assistance programs will remain suspended.
The U.S. Embassy expresses its greetings to the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Albania and wishes to inform the Government of the Republic of Albania of the intention of the U.S. Government’s executive order to suspend the implementation, new obligations, and distribution of funds, pending a review of all foreign assistance programs. Partners and implementers of U.S.-assisted programs in Albania are being notified of this action, the U.S. Embassy states.
Previously, the US Embassy, through a post, informed that there are exceptions to this suspension.
For the purposes of implementing the President's Executive Order on the Review and Redirection of United States Foreign Assistance, an additional exception to the suspension imposed under this order and my subsequent instructions dated January 24, 2025, is being approved for life-saving humanitarian assistance during the review period, the US Embassy stated, among other things, in a post.
So, by executive order of the new President of the United States, Donald Trump, funds for humanitarian aid, including medicines, medical services and others, will not be affected by this suspension and will continue to be present in the country.
