University of Tirana towards internationalization/ Rector Hoxha: Reorganization of programs for 2025–2026
While the Ministry of Education and Sports has announced that study programs have officially opened, it is of great importance to create mechanisms that protect against the risk of closing less preferred branches.
"There are some mechanisms that are being used, such as considering some of them as programs of national interest and supported by the government with the minimum wage. But even here, students do not want to be inextricably linked, because they say, I am finishing my studies and I am free, while this type of support is for them to work in the market, after they graduate, and that is a kind of obstacle to being free, to choosing another job in the first years. What is important for us is that we offer them the highest quality studies and the best conditions, but choosing study programs is a life choice," said the Rector of the University of Tirana, Artan Hoxha.
In those programs with fewer students, curriculum reorganizations have been applied, mainly in the exact sciences. Rector Hoxha emphasized that program adjustments will be applied again this year.
"We have improved our study programs, we have made them more applicable, more suitable for students according to the type of program, and we have made them more interactive and the factor of internationalization and exchange of our students, with the students of the networks where we are, of the alliance today that will be massive, this movement, especially in these programs that are suffering today, which are the natural sciences, will make it possible that by going parallel with the improvement of the programs that we continue periodically, and all of these together with our internal reorganizations, are a better academic offer that the University of Tirana gives to the students of the year 2025-2026, as a year of challenges for all higher education but in particular for the university that bears the burden of higher education in the country," explained Hoxha.
The Rector of the University of Tirana emphasized that the future of higher education in Europe and the world is alliances between international universities, and considers it an essential development for universities.
