"Aleksandër Moisiu" University, with a new campus - Innovation and modern pole, the international master plan competition opens

The National Territorial Planning Agency has announced an International Competition for Master Plan Project Ideas for the establishment of the "Aleksandër Moisiu" university campus in Durrës.
This master plan aims to provide a careful spatial structuring, which enables the functional expansion of the university and the integration of new elements for teaching, research, interdisciplinary cooperation and the development of social life within the campus. Furthermore, this master plan aims to add to the city of Durrës not only a contemporary educational infrastructure, but also a pole of innovation, culture and entrepreneurship, economically and functionally self-sufficient, becoming an inseparable part of the current activities and future identity of the city.
Referring to the document at the Public Procurement Agency, an international design competition will be held for the establishment of the new campus of the University. In line with its mission to provide quality and accessible education, the University aims to develop a campus that supports new forms of learning, closely linked to technological developments and social dynamics of the time.
The master plan will define the vision, detailed in space and function, that will guide the further development of the campus, creating conditions for an integrated, efficient and sustainable environment, in line with the expectations of a contemporary university.
This ecosystem will also be characterized by functional and economic self-sufficiency, with spaces and services that not only support university life, but also generate income, create jobs, and provide functions open to the community, strengthening the long-term sustainability of the campus.
According to the document, the competition is open to teams with experience in architectural, urban and landscape design projects, as well as in the development of master plans. The winning team must demonstrate a creative and innovative approach, which realizes the required functions in harmony with the existing context.
The five finalists will be awarded with the sum of 40,000 euros for submitting the concept-idea. However, the winning team, in addition to the prize of 40,000 euros, will also be awarded with the contract for the implementation of the master plan project. Meanwhile, to prove the financial and economic capacities, economic operators must submit a certificate of annual turnover for the last three years, where the turnover value for at least one of the years of the requested period must be no less than 1,000,000 lek.
The deadline for submitting and opening applications for participation is December 3, 2025, 3:00 PM.
