Saranda's electricity network towards modernization - OSSH, 129 million lek investment to improve supply

The Regional Directorate of OSSH Gjirokastra has announced the opening of the tender for the development of the 20 kV medium voltage network; low voltage network in feeders 3.6 in Saranda, as well as the construction of new electrical cabins. The limit fund made available for this project is 129 million and 633 thousand lekë.
This investment foresees the design and construction of a new distribution network in the Çuka area, which is supplied with electricity from the 110/20 kV Saranda substation.
According to the report published by the Public Procurement Agency, the Çuka area is one of the most frequented areas during the tourist season, and has recently been experiencing intensive urban and construction development. These factors have contributed to the significant increase in demand for electricity, exceeding the current capacities of the distribution network. For this reason, it is necessary to intervene with the reconstruction and increase of the capacities of the electrical infrastructure, in order to guarantee a quality service for existing customers and to meet the expected long-term requirements of the area. The goal is to achieve a sustainable technical solution, with high standards.
On the other hand, 6 new electrical cabins will be built, as well as medium and low voltage lines. These interventions are part of the extension of the feeder from the 110/20 kV Saranda substation, with the aim of improving the electricity supply and increasing the sustainability of the network in areas with high development. Meanwhile, consumption in the area is represented by existing household consumers and businesses.
This project aims, among other things, to normalize loads on medium and low voltage lines, the document states.
