Reduction in the price of energy, 200 million lek savings - OSHEE: 1.7 million subscribers benefited from the tariff of 8.5 lek/kWh
1.7 million subscribers have benefited from the reduction in the price of electricity, while the value saved for the February bill is 200 million lekë. The data is made known by the Electricity Distribution Operator, after the launch of the application of the new tariff scheme.
New electricity prices for household consumers came into effect on February 1, while the tariff reduction was reflected in bills paid in March.
According to the new tariffs, families consuming up to 700 kWh per month will pay 8.5 lek/kWh, excluding VAT, for energy. Meanwhile, for families consuming 701 kWh per month and above, there is no change, as the price will continue to be 9.5 lek/kWh, excluding VAT.
According to calculations, the new tariff scheme will benefit families that currently have energy bills of up to 8 thousand lek per month, who will pay about 10.5% less for the same amount of energy consumed.
OSHEE considered monthly billing a challenge, so that citizens would not be penalized in the event of late reading and exceeding the threshold of 700 kWh, and to guarantee correct reading, 120 new readers were added, bringing the number of electricity reading employees in the field to 1,000.
