Oil excise duty reduced by 20% above the 220 lek threshold - Rama: Measure to protect consumers
The government has approved the normative act to reduce the excise tax on diesel, a measure that automatically comes into effect when the price of fuel exceeds the specified levels.
According to Prime Minister Rama, the excise tax on diesel will be reduced by 20% the moment its price exceeds 220 lek per liter, while for gasoline the threshold is 200 lek per liter.
Rama emphasized that this intervention aims to cushion the blow from international markets, protecting consumers without jeopardizing the stability of public finances.
At the same time, the Transparency Board will continue to monitor the market and guarantee the correct reflection of prices, while strict measures are being warned against abusers in the fuel market.
