"The EU wants to take us inside" - Rama: Albania has gained respect and trust from those who did not respect us

During a meeting with the Socialist Party structures of unit 12 in the capital, the leader of this party, also Prime Minister, Edi Rama, stated that the European Union wants to take us within itself and this is an extraordinary and concrete moment. According to him, now we must do what we have in hand to the end.
"We need to do our utmost to ensure that the open door closes only after we have entered. We continue our work, we have the tasks according to the calendar that we have agreed upon and they have set the calendar for us, we did not set it, because we cannot set a calendar, they set it for us. And I have explained it at length even in the campaign. But now it is concrete. They have set it for us and have told us: 'if you do 1, 2, 3, 5, 200, 300 – because there are more than 4,000 that need to be done – by the end of 2027, we will close the negotiations ,'" said Rama.
According to Rama, the road to negotiations is long.
“Closing negotiations with the European Union means “closing accounts with the first floor”, because “there are two floors of the European Union”. On the first floor is Brussels and there are all the offices and all the officials who deal with reforms, follow all the measures, follow all the actions that occur and make a report for the “second floor”. They only report how the work has progressed or whether the tasks have been completed and then on the “second floor” are the member states, there are 27 countries that sit down to make a decision and the way it works on the “second floor” is by consensus. It is enough for one country to say “we don’t want it” and the decision is not made, not only for us, but for everything. Every decision of the European Union is made by consensus. But what is different today is that all the countries on the “second floor” say “we want to take Albania into the EU”. And in all the cases when the letters have gone from the “first floor” to the “second floor”, they have said “OK”; that is why we have opened all the chapters of "Negotiations for 11 months. No country has done this before ," Rama said.
According to Edi Rama, Albania is in a completely different position than it was, gaining respect and trust from those who neither respected nor trusted us.
