Tourism declared 14% more sales in the season - Anti-informality, 100 entities were "declared" with losses!
While the country has seen a tourism boom over the past year, this has not been fully reflected in service businesses, such as accommodation, bars and restaurants. A good number of them have been caught committing tax evasion.
Within the framework of the 2024 Tourism Plan, the tax administration has analyzed the data in the tax system for the entities part of the plan and a series of analyses have been conducted for various risks which have been sent for treatment.
After the analysis conducted regarding the comparison of fiscalization turnover compared to July 2024 with July 2023, 100 active taxpayers with the largest decrease in value have been identified. The decrease in value is over 5 million lek.
Also, 99 taxpayers with fewer than 10 employees have been identified, for whom the total VAT payable for both periods is below 200,000 lek for the period June 2024, July 2024.
Taxes have also identified 27 entities with beach station permits from the coastal agency with over 10 employees and no invoices for umbrellas for the period 12 - 18 August 2024.
However, from the comparison of fiscalization data, it is noted that for the period August 2024 compared to August 2023, there is an increase in sales of 11% and an increase in the number of invoices issued of 5%.
While for the quarterly period June - August 2024 compared to June - August 2023, there is an increase in sales of 14% and an increase in the number of invoices issued of 7%.
While around 110 TPs were registered for VAT liability during the period May - August 2024.
To combat tax evasion and the discrepancy between the number of tourists and sales, a week ago the government adopted a decision according to which accommodation structures must declare no less than 65% sales of their capacities during the period May 1-September 30 and no less than 30% from the period October 1-April 30.
