Durrës-Rrogozhinë train, financing secured - 60 million euro loans approved, complementing the 60.5 million euro EU grant
The procedures for securing the necessary financing for the rehabilitation and electrification of the Durrës - Rrogozhina railway are moving towards finalization.
Parliamentary committees have approved two loans of 30 million euros each, to be obtained from the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for this project. The remaining 60.5 million euros is financed through a grant from the European Union, as the agreement has already passed the parliament.
The Durrës - Rrogozhinë railway line is part of Corridor VIII, while its rehabilitation is expected to significantly improve the transport of goods and passengers.
It was previously announced that the rehabilitation and electrification of this railway line is expected to be completed in 2028, enabling train travel at speeds of up to 120 km/h.
