Energy trading Albania - Kosovo/ALPEX, 287.3 million lek for the establishment of the platform: Strengthens transparency and competition

The Albanian Electricity Exchange ALPEX has announced the winning company that will establish the Electronic Trading Platform for Albania and Kosovo, one of the most important digital investments in the energy sector for both countries.
The new electronic system, which will serve as the technical center for electricity trading in the bidding zones of Albania and Kosovo, aims to provide automated management, high speed of execution, transparency and maximum security for trading operations.
The platform is designed to meet the highest technological and regulatory standards for energy markets and will support the functioning of the day-ahead market, as well as the intraday market, including the market coupling modality.
In the tender documents, which describe in detail the technical and functional requirements, it is emphasized that the system must be reliable, secure, user-friendly and with capacity for future growth.
The winner was announced as a merger of three Greek operators, namely ATHEX SA, Enex Clearing House Single Member SA and Hellenic Energy Exchange SA, with a bid of around 287.3 million lek. The other operator participating in the competition was disqualified, as it did not meet the tender criteria.
ALPEX emphasizes that the new platform will strengthen transparency, competition and efficiency in the electricity market.
