Urban transformation in Radhimë - 102 million lek investment for roads,

The Albanian Development Fund has announced the opening of the competition for the urban transformation of key public spaces for urban regeneration of the village of Radhimë, Vlorë. The estimated fund limit is 102 million and 382 thousand lekë.

According to the document in the Public Procurement Agency, a functional pedestrian and automobile movement network will be created, through the rehabilitation of the main road and internal alleys. Likewise, the quality of public space will be increased with sidewalks, lighting and greenery. Meanwhile, according to the project, three main panoramic viewpoints will be requalified, turning them into resting, stopping, parking, walking and observation points for residents and tourists. At the same time, interventions in the village alleys are foreseen, as well as the restoration of necessary buildings and surrounding walls in the village alley.

Through this project, the urban regeneration of the village of Radhimë is aimed; improving the urban and aesthetic quality of the traditional area of Radhimë, while preserving the local identity and integrating contemporary elements of the landscape and lighting. These alleys constitute the “souls” of the village and have been carefully conceived to preserve the traditional character.

Referring to the document, the main problems identified are: lack of functional sidewalks and public squares, insufficient street lighting, damaged retaining walls and unused parking spaces, lack of urban elements, such as railings where the existing ones are in poor condition, and lack of bins, benches, and signage.

This project is conceived as part of a broader vision for the gradual transformation of rural coastal centers into spaces with a clear, welcoming and sustainable identity. Meanwhile, it aims to increase the tourist attractiveness of the village, as part of the development chain of the Vlora coast. It will also significantly improve the visual quality and identity of the village, as it is anticipated that the reorganization of the existing space in the form of a panoramic platform will be attractive to the local community and visitors.
