Traffic, no more police on the road - Control Center ready, monitoring on 200 km

Around 200 km of national roads will be monitored with cameras, eliminating the need for traffic police units and increasing safety. The National Traffic Monitoring Center is ready to start operating, while final testing is currently underway.

"The first 200 kilometers have covered the main highways of the country, namely Tirana-Durrës, Durrës-Rrogozhinë, Rrogozhinë-Fier, Fier-Vlora and all other axes, which are the main axes, to then continue with the second phase, and our goal is to cover 3650 kilometers in the final phase, which are assets of the Albanian road inventory authority", - said the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku.

According to Prime Minister Edi Rama, the establishment of this Center begins a new chapter in the administration of the territory and assistance to citizens at all levels.

"At the level of road safety, at the level of medical emergencies, at the level of civil emergencies, and it is a great obligation that we will accompany with a reform, where all emergencies and all calls and all these directions are unified. This is what we need, while this entire modern monitoring center will be supported by the Smart City system with the network of intelligent cameras and artificial intelligence that will make it possible to collect all information in real time at every meter ," said Rama.

The center will operate with 122 operators and will enable 24/7 road monitoring as well as coordination between the Traffic Police, the National Medical Emergency, and Civil Emergencies.
