High temperatures bring back fires in the country: 38 fires in the last 24 hours, 14 still active!
The General Directorate of Fire Protection and Rescue announced that during the last 24 hours, a total of 38 fires have been reported in the country's territory, of which 14 continue to be active and are being continuously monitored by the relevant structures.
68 firefighting vehicles and 601 firefighters have been engaged in firefighting operations, who are working on the ground to isolate and extinguish the remaining active fires.
The Armed Forces have contributed 183 troops, equipped with 3 firefighting vehicles and 3 helicopters, activated in the most difficult areas and mountainous terrain.
In support of air operations, 2 "Canadair" aircraft made available by Croatia and Italy have also been included, as part of international cooperation for civil emergency management.
According to the announcement by the DPMZSH, the next three days are expected to be marked by extremely high temperatures, which pose an increased risk of fires breaking out and spreading in forest and rural areas.
All relevant structures – civil emergencies, fire service, public enterprises and local institutions – are on maximum readiness to deal with any possible situation.
· Frequent field patrols are being carried out
· Firefighting and auxiliary vehicles are equipped and ready for immediate intervention
· Close cooperation is being established with the State Police, family doctors, and volunteer emergency teams.
DPMZSH requests the cooperation of every citizen to prevent dangerous situations:
• Do not light fires in open spaces.
• Immediately report any fire or suspicious smoke to the toll-free numbers:
128 – Fire Service
112 – Emergencies and Police
