Tirana Bypass, winner announced for phase II - 2.27 billion lek bid for the

With a bid of 2.27 billion lek, the Albanian Road Authority has announced the winning company that will build one of the segments of the Tirana bypass.

The winner was announced as the joint venture of operators “Elmazaj Konstruksion” & “INC SPA”, while 12 other companies also participated in the competition. The lot for which the winner was announced is phase 2 of the Kashar – Vaqarr Interchange segment and has a length of about 4.3 km. ARRSH simultaneously opened the tender for phase I of this segment, but the winner has not yet been announced.

The fund made available for the 2 tenders is 6 billion lek, while the contracts include the construction of 8.5 km of road from Kashari to Vaqarr, out of 21.6 km, which is the total length of the Tirana bypass.

This is one of the most important road projects in the country, as it aims to directly connect the Durrës - Tirana highway with the Tirana - Elbasan highway, avoiding entering the capital.

This road will cross the southern, southwestern and western part of Tirana, starting in Kashar and ending in Mullet, at the intersection with the Tirana-Elbasan highway. The route will have two lanes in each direction, a width of 10.5 meters and will allow speeds of up to 120 km/h.

Beyond the impact on traffic, the bypass is also expected to bring environmental and urban benefits. This is because, by avoiding the passage of heavy traffic through Tirana, it is expected to significantly reduce pollution, internal traffic, and accidents on the capital's roads.
