Full announcement of the General Directorate of Taxes
The Tax Administration is continuously engaged in the fight against informality and fraudulent schemes, which damage public revenues and violate fair competition in the market.
In this context, at noon on July 2, 2025, a control action was undertaken, in cooperation with the structures of the Fier Police and Prosecutor's Office, at the central offices of the company Bankers Petroleum Albania Ltd, which has been operating for years in the oil extraction field in the Marinza area.
This action was carried out following an in-depth investigation and verification, spanning a 6-month period, by the Tax Investigation Directorate of the Tax Administration. During this period, sufficient evidence was collected that raises reasonable suspicions that the company “Bankers Petroleum Albania Ltd” has created fraudulent schemes through fictitious inflating of expenses, with the aim of avoiding the payment of corporate income tax and unfairly benefiting from VAT reimbursement.
Based on the evidence collected so far, it appears that these schemes were carried out through cooperation with individuals and other contracting companies, both inside and outside the territory of Albania.
Also, employees of this company are suspected of having been involved in falsifying documentation and carrying out suspicious financial operations.
The Tax Administration assures citizens that it will continue its efforts to protect the interests of the state and taxpayers for fair and honest taxation. Our objective is to guarantee equality before the law, where everyone pays what is due.
