"The energy tariff will not increase" - ERE rejects OST's request for transmission, 0.85 ALL/kWh remains
The Energy Regulatory Authority rejected the request of the Transmission System Operator for the increase in the electricity transmission fee.
The OST application was made in September of this year, while the requested increase was 45%. Its change would directly affect the final price that customers pay, but at the last meeting the board decided to leave the current rate of 0.85 ALL/kWh in effect.
The demand for the increase of this fee was opposed by the electricity suppliers and producers. Through the letters sent to ERE during the consultation phase, these interest groups considered the company's financial statements as unsubstantiated and unsupported.
According to the Albanian Association of Renewable Energy, no analysis was given on the impact this change would have on other actors who are participants in the energy market, suppliers and recently consumers.
Meanwhile, the Albanian Association of Electricity Suppliers objected to the possibility of charging energy trading activity, since in the application submitted to ERE, OST requested the application of a fee of 0.95 ALL/kWh for "network users".
The last change of the transmission fee was made in April 2022, when the increase was decided to 0.85 ALL/kWh, from 0.75 ALL/kWh that was earlier.
