Negotiations with the EU on "Foreign Relations" begin - Minister Szijjártó: Albania has done an excellent job
Albania has marked another important step in terms of membership in the big European family. This Tuesday, the third intergovernmental conference was held in Brussels, where the focus was the opening of negotiations for group chapter 6 "Relations with Yachting".
While thanking the Hungarian support. Prime Minister Rama emphasizes that the integration of the Western Balkans would make the EU stronger and that Albania still has a lot of work to do.
"For us it is clear, we are aware that Europe is not only united by geography, but by values, democracy, the rule of law, human rights and common security. There is no doubt in our minds that a Europe with the Western Balkans will be stronger and more united. And it will be safer. So our ambition is not a secret. We want to make sure that we have done our homework and that our negotiations are closed in 2027. and hopefully our membership of the EU is closed within this decade. It is very ambitious, but we have shared this together, not only with the Hungarian Presidency but first of all with the Commission that has supported us throughout the presidencies, that we have worked on and it is essential for us that, not forgetting and not underestimating the principle in based on merit and this principle on the basis of merit is very important because it will help us to do our homework as well as possible for our hatr".
On the other hand, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, says that Albania has done an excellent job.
"Albania has shown excellent progress for all 6 chapters that will be in this group of chapters, both for foreign relations and for security. That is why we are opening this chapter group today so that Albania can move forward, because Albania is a NATO country. it is part of the Security Council and when we talk about the chapter group, I believe that this chapter group is important to open. The last time was 3 years ago that we opened a group of chapters with Albania to present and compare the speed and to give impetus to the Western Balkans, it is our common interest that this country succeeds and succeeds."
We recall that on October 15 of this year, the negotiations for the 5 chapters were opened, which deal with fundamental issues such as the Judiciary, Fundamental Rights, Justice, Procurement, Statistics, Security and Financial Control.
