Tirana-Durrës/Rama highway: Works on new lanes nearing completion!

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today images from the construction site of the Tirana-Durres highway, saying that work is nearing completion on the new traffic lanes. He also announced that work has also begun on the reconstruction of the old lanes.

And in this regard, to guarantee the normal continuation of the works, the diversion of vehicle traffic has been implemented through the new expansion near the Kashari overpass, the road axis that leads to the "Mother Teresa" International Airport.

The diversion is equipped with temporary signage, placed in accordance with road safety standards, with the aim of guiding and protecting road users.

Work to widen the road body with two lanes on each side, where one lane will serve for emergencies, making the superhighway, upon completion of the works, with four lanes in each direction, began last year.

The Tirana – Durrës highway (known locally as the “Autostrada” since the 1990s) starts from the Kamza Overpass to the Dajlan Bridge. It is one of the main and most important arteries of the country, connecting the two largest administrative, industrial, cultural and tourist centers of Albania, as well as the North-South and East-West corridors.

Upon completion of the works, the speed limit for vehicles traveling on this segment will be 130 km/h. The traffic volume on this axis during the summer months ranges from 90,000 to 120,000 vehicles per 24 hours.
