Today, the new building of the Consulate General of Greece was inaugurated in Korça, an investment that marks a significant moment in bilateral relations.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Igli Hasani; the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Georgios Gerapetritis; as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps, central and local authorities.
In his speech, the Minister emphasized that this development reflects the shared commitment to strengthen cooperation between the two countries:
“This is a concrete step in strengthening Greece’s consular presence in Albania and a clear sign of our will to build a more open and constructive relationship based on mutual respect and regular dialogue. This event comes at a crucial moment for our strategic partnership as neighbors and NATO allies, in a region that needs stability and sustainable coordination.”
Appreciating Greece's support for Albania's European integration, he emphasized that:
"Greece has been and remains an important partner for Albania, not only because of the history and ties between the two countries, but also for the concrete opportunities we have to build a sustainable future for our citizens."
He underlined that good neighborly relations and regular dialogue are essential to address common challenges and build long-term trust.
The new Consulate building is located in the former residence of Giorgos Seferis, poet, diplomat and Nobel Prize winner, who served in this city as the first Consul of Greece in the 1930s.
