Socialists, deeper victory than in 2021 - So far, they secure 9 more mandates.

The Socialist Party will lead the country for the next 4 years. To win its fourth mandate, the Socialist Party has secured a deeper victory than in the 2021 parliamentary elections.

Without yet completing the counting of diaspora votes, the Socialists are found to have won 83 seats, 9 more seats than in 2021. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party - Alliance for a Greater Albania Coalition has only received 50 seats, 9 fewer seats than in 2021. Of the small parties, the Social Democrats have again secured 3 seats, just like in 2021, the Opportunity Party wins 2 seats, while the Albania Becomes Initiative Coalition and the Together Movement each enter the Assembly with 1 MP.

The other five parties that competed in these elections did not win a single mandate.

The Socialist Party received 52.26% or over 776 thousand votes, while the Democratic Party – Alliance for a Greater Albania Coalition won only 33.95% or over 504 thousand votes nationwide. The Albania Initiative Coalition is the third political force with the most votes, over 56 thousand, while the Social Democratic Party and Opportunity figure with 48 thousand and 45 thousand votes respectively. Due to the current electoral system, despite the fact that the Albania Initiative Coalition received more votes than the Social Democratic Party, the latter has won more mandates, because it had its votes more concentrated in 2 districts and not distributed throughout the country.

In terms of regions, the Democrats in the coalition lead only in Kukës, Shkodra and Lezha, while the citizens of the other 9 regions have voted overwhelmingly for the Socialists.

Over 56,000 votes were wasted, as they were deemed invalid.

Currently, the counting of preferential votes, i.e. for the candidates on the open list, has not yet been completed, while the counting of votes from the Albanian diaspora continues. According to the Central Election Commission, as of 10:30 this morning, over 81 thousand envelopes have been counted, with 54.13% of the votes having further strengthened the position of the Socialist Party, while only 28.48% of the votes from the Albanian diaspora were given to the Democratic Party - Alliance for a Greater Albania Coalition.
