"We have no choice but to integrate into the EU" - Rama: We will soon open other chapters
There is no middle ground other than integration into the European Union. In a high-level meeting, also with representatives of the European Union, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that Albania knows very well that the European Union is not an ATM, but a big family that the country must become a part of by 2030.
"I want to say that we have no other choice and we do not want any other choice, we have only one choice, only one plan, only one path which is the EU. For us it is very clear, we are not Westerners pampered by fate, we did not grow up there and just like those who grew up in Europe of the '70s-'80s, we grew up in hell and we know very well that the EU is much more than an ATM. I am here to confirm this strongly, we believe unconditionally in this process, we know very well that the EU is not a park where you go for fun, it is not an easy family to be a part of, but it is the only family where we can be finally safe and can have a future unthreatened daily by the past," said Rama.
The head of government also indicated that after the opening of the first two groups of negotiation chapters, opportunities are being looked at to soon open others due to the country's improvement in several international reports.
"We have officially opened two sets of negotiation chapters, we have ambitions to open others in the future and we are positioned better than ever in all European rankings in the field of good governance and anti-corruption. The Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, or Valentina, mentioned here the GRECO assessment for the prevention of corruption, an assessment that moved us up 18 places in the Corruption Perceptions Index at Transparency International. An assessment, which in turn was also made by SIGMA, which clearly placed us as a leading country in the region for the administration of public finances, for public procurement, for human resources management, for policy coordination, an assessment that was made by the Bertelsmann Foundation for Albania as one of the 8 countries out of 137 countries in the world" - emphasized Rama.
Rama also spoke about the revolutionary AI model for Public Procurement, in collaboration with Microsoft and Mira Murati's group. According to him, next year we will have a model without human involvement in 95% of the process.
