Green vehicles are increasing in Albania - DPSHTRR: 40% of new cars are electric
The year 2024 has marked a significant increase in the green vehicle fleet in Albania.
The General Directorate of Road Transport Services reports that during the period January-December 2024, 3127 All-Electric vehicles were registered, with an increase of 72.5% compared to January-December 2023.
Also, 16.6% of the 0 km vehicles registered for the first time are All-Electric, demonstrating a trend towards ecological vehicle choices. In total, the All-Electric vehicle fleet reached 6378, an increase of 92% compared to 2023.
In the Electric/Hybrid Plug-In vehicle category, data shows that there are 5,404 Electric/Hybrid Plug-In vehicles registered, marking an increase of 64% compared to 2023. Meanwhile, 40% of vehicles with 0 km registered for the first time are electric or Hybrid Plug-In, a figure that shows a positive increase of 14.3%.
Meanwhile, the fleet of electric/Plug-In Hybrid vehicles reached 12,424 in December 2024, an increase of 76% compared to 2023.
The registration of electric vehicles has contributed to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, providing an environmental impact, in the context of environmental sustainability and pollution reduction. In this regard, according to data published by the DPSHTRR, 4 million and 127 thousand kg of CO2/year have been reduced, leading to 137,588 cleaner environmental lungs.
Meanwhile, in Albania, by the end of December 2024, 959,416 active vehicles were registered, 10.5% more compared to 2023.
