How should we invest in agribusinesses? - Pilku: No new construction, let's restore the identity of centuries-old buildings
Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that another support program will be launched with a focus on immigrant investments in agrotourism structures.
In an interview with Scan TV, expert Ilir Pilku emphasized that this will be a good initiative even for those abandoned villages, as well as centuries-old buildings.
" The Prime Minister's call is not only for the range of existing guesthouses and agrotourism enterprises, but also those that can be converted. It is a good initiative, we must say that it is a good initiative. We do not yet know how much the incentive measure for this program will be. We must say that it is a good initiative. We must look more broadly in the functional aspect, because often we are left with these types of initiatives on paper, which will of course be based on the shortcomings we have in our operation in rural areas, where many of the buildings are unmortgaged, issues of ownership, issues of investment capital."
But what are the shortcomings that the agrotourism sector has and what should be invested in rural or mountainous areas?
"The agrotourism sector in Albania mainly needs the restoration of those facilities, I don't want to discuss this in terms of a new construction because it has extremely high costs, so if we are talking about an agrotourism guesthouse, there is a cost that is about half a million euros minimum investment, but I would look at it in terms of micron, repairs, reconstructions of old existing facilities, their return to identity, the use of local opportunities, for many activities that are enjoyed, such as activities inside the farm, and outside it, climbing and descending in the mountains, the use of rivers for various sports. And everything related to rural and mountain tourism. So I wouldn't look at it in terms of a very large investment."
Meanwhile, the Mountain Package is another draft law, which aims to attract investments in mountainous areas through the transfer of ownership of state assets for just 1 euro.
