CEC demands changes to the Electoral Code - Applications, immigrants in Italy are rejected more. Celibashi: Wrong address!
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, stated that he will forward the request for amending the Electoral Code to the Parliament. But what are the changes that the Central Election Commission has proposed?
"I would like to inform you that within today, I will forward to the Assembly of Albania, also for the information of the parliamentary parties, a proposal for several technical amendments to the Electoral Code, which consist of: the first in granting the right to the CEC to procure the postal delivery service for both outgoing and return ballots. The review of the deadlines related to the registration of electoral subjects and candidates, in order to benefit from 10 more days at their disposal. Also, after consultations with representatives of the two main political parties, as well as in the evaluation of all technical aspects of the process of evaluating and counting ballots, I will propose to the Assembly to amend the Electoral Code regarding the structure that will deal with the evaluation and counting of ballots. It would be appropriate for political parties, especially the CEC, to be included in this process."
Meanwhile, according to data from this Monday, so far about 18 thousand voters have been registered, while 42 thousand are requests, including repeated ones. But 10 426 are rejected requests. Chief Commissioner Celibashi also stated the reasons for the problems that the registration process is facing.
"As you can see, the largest number of rejections comes from Italy and generally the reason for the rejection is related to the mistake made by the vast majority of these voters when uploading their address document. Most of these voters have uploaded their Italian state-issued identity document as proof of address, but they have uploaded it from the wrong side, from the page that does not contain the address. It will need to be uploaded to the PER, the page of the Italian state-issued identity document that contains the address."
