80 new products added to the price basket - Methodology changes, inflation calculation for over 411 products and services
Since the beginning of this year, the methodology for calculating the Consumer Price Index has changed. The changes consist mainly of updating the weights based on the average expenditures of the 2024 Household Budget Survey.
Updating the list of goods and services, where the basket now consists of 411 products and services in total, where 80 new products have been added, as well as updating the list of commercial units where prices are collected.
At the first annual conference of this year of INSTAT, the new director of this institution, Lantona Sado, was also introduced, who emphasized the importance and quality of the data produced by the Institute of Statistics.
