The administration keeps excellent students employed - 1-year contract extended, employment termination avoided
The Council of Ministers has approved an amendment to the decision "On the temporary employment of students of excellence in state administration institutions", providing for the extension of the contract term to 2026.
The decision was proposed by the Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption. According to the decision approved by the government, exceptionally for 2026, students of excellence who have been employed with a 1-year contract in the state administration, based on the call published in December 2024, will have their contract term extended until the completion of regular employment procedures.
The purpose of this decision is to guarantee the continuity of the engagement of students of excellence and to avoid the termination of contracts before the completion of the legal employment procedures. Also, this decision aims to protect the students included in the employment program based on the public call of December 2024, who were employed with one-year contracts. With the end of their mandate at the beginning of this year, there was a risk that these young people would remain unemployed, until the opening of new recruitment procedures.
Meanwhile, the term of their contract will be extended until the completion of the employment procedures, according to the specific legislation that regulates the employment relationship in these institutions. The Department of Public Administration and the relevant state administration institutions are responsible for implementing the decision.
