For the first time, Albania officially participated in the 27th edition of BMTA – the most important international event for archaeological tourism.
In partnership with AICS Tirana, the Bylis National Archaeological Park project was presented, as an example of the success of cooperation between the European Union, Italy and Albania.
The opening session was attended by:
* Hon. Edmondo Cirielli, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy

as well as senior representatives from Syria and Albania.
In her speech, Ms. Lira Pipa emphasized that projects like Bylis and Antigonea show that Mediterranean cooperation turns heritage into opportunities for economic development, sustainable tourism and the inclusion of local communities. Throughout 2025, over 1.3 million tourists visited our archaeological and cultural sites, showing the ever-increasing interest in cultural tourism in Albania.
During the fair, we had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Mounir Bouchenaki, cultural personality, Advisor to the Director-General of UNESCO and at the same time, Honorary President of the Fair, where we discussed participation next year, as well as the organization of a conference on archaeological heritage and tourism in Albania.
