The budget of 3.8 billion lek for the Foreign Service in 2025 will be used mostly to create new partnerships, strengthen economic diplomacy, promote investments and cooperation opportunities. Advancing the negotiation process with the European Union will be among the main objectives of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

In a meeting with the media, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, stated that the holding of the Summit of the European Political Community in Tirana next year will further strengthen Albania's position in the international arena.

"The organization of the Summit of the European Political Community in Tirana in May 2025 will be an important event that will once again emphasize the role of Albania in the political and diplomatic processes of the European continent, as an active and responsible actor in international politics. This summit, which will be held for the first time in the Albanian capital, symbolizes a big step for the image that our country has created and further integration into European structures."

Meanwhile, a special focus will be given to the further modernization of consular services.

"An important aspect of the modernization of consular services is the modernization of the online consular service (SHKO) and the eVisa system, which are being worked on continuously. This initiative aims to facilitate and increase the efficiency of the provision of online services for Albanian citizens and those foreigners who wish to visit Albania, giving them opportunities for quick and barrier-free access to both consular services and visa applications. Another achievement we expect from next week is the reduction of the time from 6 weeks to 2 weeks for equipping Albanian citizens abroad with biometric identification documents, making this process faster and more efficient."

During 2025, new embassies are expected to be opened in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Indonesia and China, while two international offices of the European Investment Bank and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will be opened in Albania.
