Toys, November marks third highest record/ China, Italy and Austria top market suppliers
During the holiday period, the import of various products experiences a significant increase, especially in the market of toys and pyrotechnic products. This is a common trend that occurs mostly during the months of November and December. Scan Intel's analysis based on INSTAT data shows that the import of toys this November marked the third highest record since January 2005 that data is available for this category.
Specifically, the import of toys during the 11th month of this year reached 508 million ALL, reflecting an increase of 50.7% compared to November of 2023 and an increase of about 52% compared to November of 2022. We recall that the record set and the month of November of 2021, the value of which reached the value of 636 million ALL. Meanwhile, the import of toys for the 11th month of 2024 reached 3.2 billion ALL, from 2.8 billion last year in this period.
But who are the main suppliers of toys for Albania? According to the data for the period January-November 2024, China continues to lead the list as the largest supplier of toys in Albania, holding a share of 65.9% in the total import. This result reflects its global dominance in toy manufacturing, thanks to competitive costs compared to other countries.
Italy, ranked second, represents 6.3% of imports with a total of 2.02 billion ALL. Austria ranks third with a share of 4.4%. The value of imports with Austria reached 141 million ALL.
Spain and Bulgaria are also part of the list of top 10 supplying countries. Imports from these countries constitute respectively 4.1% and 3.4% of the total, with values of 129 million and 109 million ALL. On the other hand, Turkey contributes with a weight of 3.3%, registering a total of 106 million ALL.
While China, Italy and Austria represent the main sources of supply of toys in the Albanian market, other countries such as the Czech Republic, Greece, the United States, and Germany have also contributed. The values recorded for these countries range from 21 to 69 million ALL, emphasizing the diversity and access to products from different countries of the world.
