Historical Albania a "magnet" for tourists - Minister Gonxhja: Over 42 thousand visitors explore historical sites

Our cultural and historical heritage continues to attract more and more visitors.
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja announced that during the first two months of the year, 42,251 domestic and foreign visitors have chosen to explore our cultural assets up close, demonstrating a significant increase in interest in history and national identity.
On the other hand, the National Museums welcomed 21,134 visitors, who had the opportunity to get to know key figures and events of Albanian history. Meanwhile, the Archaeological Parks attracted 14,394 visitors. Another important attraction are the forts and cultural monuments, which were visited by 6,723 people, offering an authentic experience of our architectural and historical heritage.
According to figures published by Minister Gonxhja, at the top of the list of most visited destinations is the Archaeological Park of Shkodra, with 8,587 tourists, followed by the National Museum "Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg" with 8,176 visitors, an important symbol of history and national pride. In third place is the Gjirokastra Castle, which has attracted 5,513 tourists, continuing to remain one of the most iconic attractions of Albanian heritage.
These figures confirm the growing interest in cultural tourism, but also the great potential that Albania has to further develop this sector, promoting historical and cultural values in the international arena.
