Albania, a source of income for foreigners - The increase in the labor force doubled incomes in 5 years
The experiment of borrowing labor from third countries, linked to the distribution of dividends to individuals who have invested in Albania, has caused the income of non-residents in our country to reach record levels last year.
Bank of Albania data show that during 2024, foreigners benefited from around 1.15 billion euros in salaries and dividend distributions, i.e. the return of part of the profit to owners living outside Albania.
This amount is almost double compared to five years ago, when during the pandemic period, non-resident income did not exceed 556 million euros.
According to data from the National Employment and Skills Agency, around 13,000 foreigners currently work in the country – a figure that is constantly growing thanks to efforts to attract workers from third countries, mainly in the manufacturing and tourism sectors.
Most of them come from Turkey, Egypt, the Philippines, India, China and Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Albanians who work or invest abroad have also recorded a significant increase in income.
According to the Bank of Albania, in the space of five years, their income from wages and investments in host countries has almost tripled, constituting another positive record for the Albanian economy.
