Tourist season, 1.3 million euros for the cleaning of Saranda - The project is divided into two periods, the waste goes to the Baikal landfill
Saranda prepares for the tourist season with a new contract for cleaning the city, at a cost of 1.3 million euros for a 12-month period.
The municipality has opened a new procurement procedure for cleaning and waste management services, setting new conditions for the company that will engage in this process.
The service will be divided into two phases, in accordance with seasonal needs, the period October-May, which includes the months outside the tourist season, and June-September, when the influx of visitors significantly increases cleaning needs.
To avoid congestion and pollution, the works will take place mainly at night. The working hours will start after 7:00 PM and end before 7:00 AM, to guarantee a clean city before the start of the day.
In cases where objectives are not achieved due to extraordinary circumstances, temporary changes to the schedule will be permitted, but only with the approval of the relevant authorities.
In technical terms, the contract foresees the placement of 471 new containers, distributed in different areas of the city, including 50 plastic, 60 smaller and 350 metal.
The operators must guarantee 471 container emptyings every day, as well as complete street cleaning and washing of public squares. An important part of the contract also relates to the transportation of waste to the Baikal landfill, while the winning company is also required to take care of the visual maintenance of the city, including washing of streets and alleys in the center.
