38 MW solar power plant in Kolonjë - New application to the Ministry of

Following the increased interest of the private sector, several new applications for the construction of photovoltaic power plants were registered at the beginning of 2025. The company “GRAMOZI GREEN ENERGY” has applied to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy for the construction of a photovoltaic plant with an installed capacity of 38 MW in the Municipality of Kolonjë. The plant will not be subject to a concession and will not benefit from state support measures.

At the beginning of the year, it was the company "X ONE" that submitted an application for the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 54 MW in the Tërpan area, Poliçan Municipality, also without claiming benefits from government support schemes.

A few months later, two more applications were submitted for the construction of photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 148.5 MW. One of them includes the construction of a 128 MW plant in Sheq Marinas, Fier, while the other project envisages the construction of a 20.5 MW plant in the Municipality of Cërrik. None of these projects benefit from state facilities for documentation or guarantees for the sale of the energy produced.

The trend of increasing interest in solar plants was also evident during 2024, when in December alone, 7 applications were submitted for projects with a total capacity of 416.5 MW, distributed in several municipalities in the country.

Currently, solar energy is still little used in Albania by large plants, but despite this, its share in total energy production has increased significantly. According to official data for 2024, about 6.25% of the country's total energy was produced by solar power plants, with the largest share being held by the Karavasta Photovoltaic Power Plant, which generated 53% of the solar energy produced nationally.
