Salla: 5.2 billion lek support for farmers, subsidies increase and new measures

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, presented the national support scheme for farmers for 2026, with a budget of 5.2 billion lek, drafted after consultations across the country.

The scheme provides support for investments in greenhouses, livestock, vineyards, agricultural mechanics, agro-processing and agrotourism, while a special focus is given to young farmers, who will benefit from grants of up to 10 thousand euros.

Among the main measures, Salla highlighted the increase in subsidies in livestock, where support for cattle increases to 12 thousand lek per head, for small animals to 1500 lek, while for beekeeping it doubles to 2000 lek per hive. For the first time, support of 70 thousand lek will also be provided for sows in the pig breeding sector.

Also, benefit thresholds have been halved, including more farms in the scheme, while support for biological control in greenhouses reaches up to 70% of the cost.

Regarding the oil scheme, the minister explained that it will function as direct financial support to reduce costs, where farmers will benefit from 10% of the value of their invoices.

Salla emphasized that this package aims to increase the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and prepare Albanian farmers for integration into the European Union.
